Collage Art Diary is the place dedicated to Paulo Melo’s Collage Artwork.
He is a designer and art director, that also works in fine art photography and never stopped his activity as a collage artist, working in commissioned and personal projects since 2008. Currently, he’s based in Berlin.
His work, characterized by its bold aesthetics often using strong shards of color, combined with photography and a careful selection of materials represents a new approach to this form of art. Much more than visual compositions, he takes every single aspect of each piece into consideration, from textures to thickness, weight, or flexibility of materials used, which are part of the creative process.
With a charismatic style and obsession for composition, his works translate imagery into glamorous visual intrigues of sublime beauty. Extraordinary detailed and meaningful, they evoke strong emotions like desire and devotion simultaneously, as the fundamental state for creativity to evolve.
Geometric or organic, abstract or figurative, conceptual or realistic, is impossible to resist the flirting with this paradox, where instead of confrontation, the extremes complete each other.
In his own words: “This obsession for composition is possibly the oldest memory I have about myself.”
Aiming to present his complete body of work, Collage Art Diary is currently a “work in progress.”
